The Wolfmen and Fall Of The Wolfmen get reviewed in SFX blog.

Both The Wolfmen and The Fall Of The Wolfmen get a great review over on the SFX blog.
It's great to see that our earlier books are still being enjoyed by new readers and to meet fans at Cons.

Wolfmen Reviews.

A great review of both of our Wolfmen books has been posted up on http://comicsanonymous.wordpress.com/2011/11/30/the-wolfmen-fall-of-the-wolfmen/.

Comics Anonymous is not a website I've come across before, but it has some interesting reviews up there.

Wolfmen on their way to Lush Comics iTunes store.

I've just sent The Wolfmen and The Fall Of The Wolfmen over to Justin at LUSH Comics, so they should sit nicely alongside Whatever Happened To The World's Fastest Man ? in digital form very soon.
I can't wait to get them both on my iPAD.
Justin is still busy and I believe that Apps now exist for Android ...

The Multiverse and other stuff...

Well I received my copy of Multiverse Issue 2 through the post and it has a great double page spread of an interview with myself about The Fall Of The Wolfmen, and also other things I'm working on, or have produced recently.

It really is great to see a Comics Magazine cover a range of titles and creators, from mainstream professionals to us Independent publishers and creators. I hope they do more but I guess that'll depend on them getting feedback on this issue, so if might be worth writing them a letter requesting more 'Independent UK' coverage... if it helps sell copies then they'll make sure they keep it up and there're a lot of great things happening in the UK Independent comic scene deserving of a wider profile.

As I'm on Wolfmen, I came across this review whilst surfing the net (do we still use that phrase or am I showing my age), and the excellent Small Press Big Mouth podcast have reviewed both Wolfmen issues and over on Andy Bloor's blog you can see a new coloured version of the alternate limited edition Fall Of The Wolfmen cover, coloured by the very talented Matt Soffe who is also colouring 'My Maker & I' an uncoming comic from Owen Johnson and Dan Duncan, which is going to blow everybody away.

And back to Wolfmen... I've just sent Andy the first draft of Wolfmen 3, which concludes things and will be appropriately titled 'The Last Of The Wolfmen'. It'll go through some revisions as we collaborate to get it right, and then it'll be down to Andy to work his magic and bring it to gritty life.

The Wolfmen have landed.

The Fall Of The Wolfmen has appeared in Forbidden Planet in Manchester. Scott Mathieson posted this photo on Facebook (thanks Scott), taken from his mobile phone (whilst underwater it looks like :o), and I popped in on Friday to see one copy left. I've no idea how many they ordered, hopefully it wasn't just one...
and in case you're having trouble spotting the cover, here's a clearer version...
It's a great feeling seeing your comicbook on a shelf with all the others, and I couldn't resist picking the copy up and flicking through the pages. Andy certainly did great work with the visuals.

Next week Colin, Scott and I will be at the Manchester Mart, selling our own stuff as well as a range of Accent UK books, so if you're in town then pop in a say hello.
In other news, Gal Editora would like to reprint a selection of our first ZOMBIES anthology in Brazil, once again following a translation into Brazilian Portuguese. I've listed the stories that they are interested in below. I want to get the permission from all the creators before letting their work be used in this way, so if your name appears below then please get in touch, or provide your permission in the comments section below this posting. It's another great opportunity to get your work out there across the world.

  • Might of the Living Dead - Indio
  • An Molethy a an Ny-marrow (The Curse of the Un-dead)- David Hitchcock,Leah Moore and John Reppion
  • Memories - Leonie O'Moore and Tony Hitchman
  • Spirit of the Apocalypse - Benjamin Dickson
  • Pariah - Iain Laurie and Jon Ayre
  • The Zombie Interviews - David Baillie
  • The Slow UnDeath - Dave West
  • Job Satisfaction - Gary Crutchley
  • Zombie Thespian - Matt Boyce
  • One - Roland Bird and Darren Ellis
  • The Scent of Coriander - Tim Keable and Andrew Cheverton
  • House of the Dead - Laura Howell
  • Zombie of the Great Unwashed - Paul Harrison-Davies and Jason Cobley
  • The Sweetest of Dreams - B.C. Sterrett
  • Zombies - Andy Bloor and Kieron Gillen
  • No Time to Die - Dan Denholt and Chris Dingsdale
  • An Alphabet of Zombies - Steve Bissette and Daniel Bissette
  • Tragic Kingdom - Garry Brown and Owen Johnson
  • Life Goes On - Ant Mercer
  • Day of the Dead Moon - Colin Mathieson
  • Nomads - Barry Renshaw and Mark Clapham
  • Sacrifice - Shaun Mooney, Nolan Worthington and Kieren Brown
  • Pin-ups by Matt Timson, Paul Cartwright, Graeme Neil Reid, Garry Brown, Shaun Mooney and Shane Oakley

I will attempt to track people down via email etc, but if I don't have permission from all creators on a story then I'm afraid it won't be able to appear.

The Wolfmen - Did they fall or were they pushed ?

I can still remember the night Andy Bloor came over to discuss our collaboration and let me see his sketchbook, in the hope that we'd come across something that would inspire us. What I found in those pages was a real treasure trove of images that generated a whole host of ideas in my head.
The one that jumped out the most to me then was the image of the Werewolf in a suit, and so we decided to go for The Wolfmen.

It was to be the first full comic that I'd write for someone else to illustrate. It was a real challenge for me creatively as I had to write the script and then step back. I'd have to stop myself from trying to influence the artistic direction it would take.
I had nothing to worry about. When Andy showed me the finished pages I was blown away. He had completely captured that Film Noire feel that we both wanted for the book, and his use of grey tones really cemented the tale in the days of black and white television and newspapers.
So, here we are a few years down the road. Andy now has twin sons, hopefully learning how to draw, and both off us have learned plenty since that book hit the shelves. We're both still very proud of The Wolfmen though, and didn't want a sequel to dilute the impact of that book, or to just be a re-telling of the first story.

I'm happy to report that it isn't.

We see Jack Grey come back for revenge. We see a rival gang, The Ghosts, move in on The Wolfmen's patch taking advantage of events, we see Jenny caught up in the middle and then there's Detective Knight beginning to realise that he is completely out of his depth.

Early reviews have been very encouraging, http://paradoxcomicsgroup.blogspot.com/, http://www.hypergeek.ca/ both rated it highly and Diamond gave it a Certified Cool logo, which all following on from a great launch at Canterbury's Whatever Comics are all very encouraging and are why we produce these books. So, The Fall Of The Wolfmen has been delivered to Diamond UK's offices, and if your local comic store has ordered any copies then it should appear on the shelves over the coming weeks.

We'd love to hear what you think of the book once you've had a chance to read it, and if you really enjoyed it then The Fall Of The Wolfmen is also up for an EAGLE, as is Andy Bloor for his artwork, if you haven't had a vote then by all means pop over to http://www.eagleawards.co.uk/ and give it your vote :o)
